About - Firm Profile

Intellectual Assets, Corp. was formed to take advantage of our unique background.  We've evaluated new technology from all angles, including fortune 500, small public companies, university, and federal agency licensing programs.

Our mission is to help your company develop an unfair strategic advantage by skillfully evaluating your and your competitor's IP resources.  IP is a government protected monopoly designed to allow you to take advantage of newly developed technology.

You must position your firm for success, strengthening your resources in your areas of excellence and harvesting value (while limiting your time) elsewhere.  Intellectual Assets, Corp. is uniquely positioned to understand the state of your IP.  We can recommend and implement both in-licensing and out-licensing programs to increase your strategic advantage now.

We approach new products from a business perspective with an innate understanding of the value IP brings to you.

His practice areas include technology evaluation, licensing, and a particular expertise in matching companies with federal laboratories (capability brokering), in particular the Department of Defense.

His work with Federal Lab Consortium (FLC) facilities has led to over 20 agreements in fields ranging from armored glass to alternative energy; robots to rotors; and software to sand flies.  Having served on the FLC program committee for the past 3 years, he has presented with the chair of the FLC and has strong professional relationships with FLC regional directors and technology managers in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Corps of Engineers, DOE, DHS, Dept of Agriculture, FAA and NIST. David’s efforts have been recognized with a special award at the 2008 annual meeting as well as a nomination for the FLC special service award in 2009.

Prior to forming his firm, he served as CenterSpan's (NASDAQ: CSCC) Vice President of Strategic Planning. CenterSpan followed two successful years at Intel where he managed business development for Internet communication technologies, seeking external (and internal) partners to commercialize Intel Labs’ products.

He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and the FLC; a contributing author for the Association of University Technology Managers’ (AUTM) Technology Transfer Practice Manual; and often presents on IP business issues. He holds a Physics degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.  He serves on the advisory boards of Innovation Assets Group, Kerstech, Stragellan, and Becos; and is an adjunct professor at Portland State University.
